Sheila Parr Says Farewell to DCL — Everton’s Loss, Not Ours
Well, blow me down — Dominic Calvert-Lewin is packing his bags after nine years at Everton. Nine bloody years we’ve seen him chase his own tail, and now he’s off to pastures new. No tears from me, just another lad riding the rollercoaster of Merseyside heartbreak.
Calvert-Lewin posted some sentimental guff on Instagram, saying he made a tough decision. Of course, love, no one ever said staying at Everton was easy. Especially not in these days when we’re more a start-up than a club, with the owners playing a game of ‘How low can you go?’
Last season was a write-off for DCL. Three goals in 26 league games, more time injured than on the pitch. It’s a shock he managed that many, truth be told. Still, he had a fair shot during the breakout year in 2019-20 — 15 goals across all comps. But enough about that. Everton’s shape? Looks like spilled tea — all over the shop.
Now, there’s talk of Sunderland offering him a two-year deal. Good luck to him, he’ll need it. As for Everton, we’ll keep fighting. It’s what we do. We show up, even when it’s misery served up cold.
And as for the rest of the squad, don’t hold your breath for a quick fix. That’s not how we do things around here. Loyalty means more than fancy signings, and fight? Well, if you don’t look bothered, what’s the point?
Everton’s bubbling under, but the old grit still runs through our veins. We might fall more than we stand, but we always show up. That’s the real Everton way.
