Everton eye Thierno Barry as Moyes Scrambles For Firepower
Listen, we’re not exactly spoilt for choice up front. Moyes is sniffing around Villarreal’s Thierno Barry, a young French striker with a knack for finding the net. Last season, Barry clocked up 11 La Liga goals and nearly doubled that at 19 overall. Villarreal needed him so badly they slapped a €40m (£34m) release clause in his contract. But knowing us, we’ll try to nick him for less, as usual. He’s with France’s under-21s now at the European Championship, so keep your eyes peeled if you believe in miracles.
Everton’s attack is about as lively as a graveyard. We missed out on Liam Delap, clammed up on Armando Broja from Chelsea, and now DCL looks like he’s off on a freebie. Who’s left? Beto, if he stays healthy, and some untested kid called Youssef Chermiti. Not exactly the dream team.
Kostoulas Joins Brighton as Everton Watch On
Meanwhile, Brighton splash the cash, bringing in Charalampos Kostoulas from Olympiakos for around £29.8m. The boy’s only 18 and scored seven goals last season as Olympiakos grabbed yet another Greek league title. Signed a five-year deal, no doubt dreaming of bigger things than Brighton’s seaside charm. Good luck to him, but don’t expect miracles unless they bring some fight — that’s what we value most.
