Thiaw lands in England for Newcastle medical as West Ham target Fernandes
The Milan defender Malick Thiaw has arrived in England to complete his medical with Newcastle United.
The 24 year old flew in on Sunday night for the checks.
Before leaving Italy he said he is happy with the choice.
He added he is ready for the Premier League.
Newcastle had agreed a £35m deal for Thiaw.
That ends their long hunt for a right sided centre back.
Meanwhile West Ham are preparing a bid for Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes.
The Hammers want a midfielder who can press and mix it with the best.
We watch the circus from a distance.
But we know the soul of West Ham lives in the terraces.
We distrust high lines unless there is a barge sized centre back behind them.
We love a hard press and a hard tackle.
Rivals get a jab.
Millwall and Spurs remind us football belongs to the East End.
The boardroom may spin it but the stands tell the truth.
TLDR: Thiaw seals a move to Newcastle United.
TLDR: West Ham are lining up a bid for Mateus Fernandes from Southampton.
TLDR: The East End will stay watchful and ready for more twists.
